Preparation for Interiors

The great majority of paint failures are due to inadequate surface preparation.  Also, a smooth, uniform appearance is essential for a satisfactory interior paint job -- and proper surface preparation can insure this.  Proper surface preparation includes making the necessary repairs and thoroughly cleaning the substrate (even if the material is new or unpainted).  Good paint performance depends on good paint adhesion, and paint adheres best to surfaces that are clean and sound.

Quality Interior Latex Paint

A can of quality paint will contain a higher volume of solid material (pigment and binder) than do ordinary paints. In the case of top quality latex paints, that means more solids and less water.

Therefore, if a top quality paint and an ordinary paint were applied at the same spread rate, the top quality paint would dry to a thicker paint film due to its higher solids content.

A top quality paint will contain 35 to 45 percent volume solids, while an ordinary paint will contain about 25 to 30 percent.

Goes on smoothly and evenly, without showing brush or roller marks.

More hiding power, so it will require less touch-up and, possibly, fewer coats.

Less tendency to "block," so windows, doors and other freshly painted surfaces won't stick to one another.

Minimal spattering during application.

Better resistance to dirt and stains, which facilitates cleaning and maintenance.

Attic and Decking Radiant Barrier

M & S application of a Radiant Barrier has a low emissivity or e-rating, and reduces heating and cooling costs by as much as 15% as certified by an independent testing laboratory*

* Energy savings will vary depending upon building materials, home location and conditions

Antimicrobial

By painting your home with Solace with MICROBAN® Antimicrobial Protection, M & S has armed your walls with an added level of  protection.   MICROBAN® protection inhibits the growth of bacteria, mold and mildew that can cause stains, odors and degradation of dried paint film.  Because MICROBAN® antimicrobial protection is built into the paint during the manufacturing process, your interior painted surfaces stay cleaner and fresher between cleanings.  MICROBAN® Protection will not wash or wear off, providing non-stop protection for the life of the paint.  You can rest easy knowing that your home has an added level of protection against the growth of damaging microbes.  For more information on MICROBAN® Antimicrobial Protectin, CLICK on the MICROBAN® logo above.

Fire Retardant

M & S Fire Retardant application is designed for use on interior surfaces and dries quickly to a velvety flat finish having the appearance of a conventional paint. Upon exposure to fire, it intumesces (puffs up) forming a dense cellular foam layer. This foam layer greatly reduces the surfaces burning characteristics of combustible materials and retards the penetration of heat to wood or metal surfaces. May be tinted at 2 ounces of colorant per gallon maximum to light pastel shades.
